Salman to celebrate Ganesh puja at his Panvel farmhouse

Every year, Ganesh Chatuthi is celebrated with huge pomp and show and this year is also not exceptional. Only the venue has been changed, unlike every year Ganesh Chaturthi will not be celebrated at his Galaxy apartment as his house is under renovation. Salman Khan will celebrate at his Panvel farmhouse. For the past eleven years, Salman Khan’s family is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi will full devotion.

At first the family planned to host the puja at their new residence at Pacific Heights but on Monday they decided that Panvel will be a better choice. A source close to the family said, "The new house is a rented place and the farmhouse is far more spacious and comfortable, so they decided on it" When contacted, Salim Khan said, "Yes, we are thinking of organising the Ganpati celebration at Panvel. Galaxy of course is ruled out because we are renovating the place."

Salman Khan’s two sisters, Alvira and Arpita are in charge of the food and the décor. They will reach Panvel farmhouse three days before the festifal kick-start on September 9 and will look after all the arrangements. The Ganesh puja started at Khan’s residence 11 years ago on the insistence of their younger sister Arpita.

Says a source, “Arpita began the Ganpati puja and organises every detail of the festival. This year she is renovating her parents’ apartment and it won’t be ready in time so they can’t bring Bappa home. In the last few years, the idol has been immersed on the Bandra beach. This year, they will take a call whether to bring back the idol for immersion to Mumbai or to do it somewhere close to Panvel. Like every year, this year too Arpita will bring an eco-Ganpati as she believes in protecting the environment.”

Arpita confirms, “Our flats at Galaxy are being renovated so we may not celebrate Ganpati there this year but at our farmhouse in Panvel. We will take a decision on that soon.”

The Khan will also do the visharjan at Panvel and three days ahead of the festival, non-vegetarian food and alcohol is banned at the Khan’s abode. Salman's mother turns out delicacies like modak, puri, aloo bhaji and chana usal. 

Gaesh Chaurthi is a grand occasion at Salman’s family and it is attended by close friends and relatives.
